Detailed Solution

In early days manuscripts were written on vellum. Handwritten documents are known as manuscripts. There was no use in typing or printing because everything was handwritten. Previously, when no printing machines were invented in Europe, all work was done by hand. Historically, manuscripts were produced in the form of scrolls or volumes. Manuscripts were created on vellum and other parchments, as well as on paper. Manuscripts document human activity that occurs organically during an individual's or organisation's life. Scholars primarily used these documents. Handwritten manuscript creation could not keep up with the ever-increasing demand for books. Copying was an expensive, time-consuming, and difficult industry.
