concept - A fire extinguisher is a device used by fire and rescue personnel to control a fire. Fire extinguishers generally cut off the oxygen supply to control the fire.
Depending on how the fire extinguisher changes any of the controls from the fire, fire extinguishers are of considerable variety. One type of extinguisher is a foam extinguisher.
In this foam extinguisher, aluminium sulfate reacts with sodium bicarbonate, to which a foam stabilizer is added, producing carbon dioxide for fire extinguishing foams. The carbon dioxide produces during the reaction cuts off the oxygen supply and controls the fire. Aluminium sulphate is used as a foaming agent in firefighting foam. The reaction is:
