Detailed Solution

In five years, the value of goods bought by the company in Bengal doubled.
The Diwan of Bengal was the East India Company. Financial administration was under their control, but their main job was trading, and they still saw themselves as trading company. The company needed a large revenue stream to manage its expenses, but it needed more time to be ready to set up a regular system for the collection of revenue. Its main aim was to increase revenue and buy the finest quality silk and cotton at a cheap rate. The value of goods the company bought doubled in Bengal within five years. Before granting Diwani rights, the company bought goods in India by importing gold and silver from Britain. Now they were financing their exports with the revenue collected in Bengal.
