In India, 80% of people are small farmers who own a small piece of land for farming.
Two out of every five rural households in the village are agricultural labourers. They are landless and are dependent on others’ farmland for their livelihood. Only 20% of the farmers in India, as Ramalingam, own a maximum of fields in the village. They sell their produce in the Market and also have other businesses. Apart from farming, many people in the villages are engaged in non-farming activities such as collecting from the forests, animal husbandry, fishing, dairy products, etc., which are essential sources of livelihood.
