Detailed Solution

In India, the Great Depression proved less severe for rural people. Imports and exports nearly halved between 1928 and 1934. Indian trade was affected adversely by the great depression. Prices plunged in India, too, with the prices crashing in the International market. The price of wheat had a major setback in India as it fell by 50 per cent. Peasants and farmers were the worst affected by the great depression. However, the urban dwellers in India did not face many problems as these were the people with fixed incomes, such as urban landowners. They received rent from the tenants and did not lessen the rent.
