Detailed Solution

In India, the process of Liberalisation was started in 1991.
After India's independence in 1947, the Indian government needed to take substantial decisions for the growth and development of the nation. For this, the government started promoting public industries. These public industries produced various goods and worked towards the welfare of the people. There was a minimal presence of private companies. The public industries were facing losses, and the policies made for their promotion had loopholes. In 1991, the central government introduced the policy of liberalisation. This meant that the regulations on private companies were loosened to an extent, and the procedures for opening a private industry in India were minimised.
