The Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972 is a crucial piece of legislation enacted by the Parliament of India to safeguard the diverse flora and fauna species across the country. Prior to the enactment of this act, India had only five designated national parks. With the implementation of the Act, various measures were put in place to ensure the protection and conservation of numerous endangered plant and animal species. The hunting or capturing of such species was strictly prohibited.
