Detailed Solution

In India’s federal system, only the state government can legislate on all subjects included in the State list. There are three lists given in the Constitution of India. The union list mentions subjects of national importance like foreign affairs, defence, currency, and banking, on which only the Central government can legislate. The concurrent list includes subjects of common interest to the Union and the State, such as education, forest, and marriage. If there is a conflict between the centre and the State on the legislation of subjects in the concurrent list, then the central law prevails. The state list mentions subjects of importance to the States and upon which only the State may legislate as they may require unique adjustments.
