Hitler announced that the mother was the most important citizen. But in reality, the situation was different. He didn't treat women equally. He awarded those mothers who bore healthy and desirable children. However, he punished those who bore undesirable children. He presented honour crosses to women to encourage them to bear children. He honoured the mother of four with a bronze cross, the mother of six with silver and the mother of eight with a gold cross. The Aryan women had to act by a code of conduct prescribed by the Nazis.
