In plant breeding programmes, the entire collection (of plants/seeds) having all the diverse alleles for all genes in a given crop is called

Obtaining all varieties of plants or the seeds of a crop having all the diverse alleles for all genes is called germplasm collection. 

(1) Evaluation and selection of parents: In this step of plant hybridisation, the various varieties of a crop available in germplasm are evaluated and right varieties are choosen as parental generation of a breeding programme.

(3) Selection of superior recombinants: This step involves choosing the hybrid progeny with desirable combination of characters. It is the most crucial step of hybridisation, which decides the success of a hybridisation programme.

(4) Cross-hybridisation among the selected parents: This step involves collection and dusting of pollen grains
of selected male parent plant over the stigmas of selected female parent flowers.
