Detailed Solution

In Russia, the term 'kulaks' was used for well-to-do peasants. Lenin's philosophy from the early 20th century viewed the kulaks as the class adversaries or, rather, the class enemies of the poorest peasants. Joseph Stalin referred to affluent Soviet peasants as "kulaks" because they allegedly stored food to increase their profits. In 1928, they were attacked, and their supplies were taken away. The kulak families were prosperous farmers. Members of Joseph Stalin's party targeted these farmers because they thought wealthy rural merchants and peasants were hoarding merchandise in anticipation of rising prices.
