Some portions of the protein threads are folded and form the secondary structure of protein. The α helix and β pleated sheet are two types of secondary structures. In proteins only right-handed helices are observed. In an α-helix there is interaction between every fourth amino acid by the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bond.
