Detailed Solution

In September 1792, the Convention abolished the monarchy and declared the French Republic. Following the Jacobin insurgency in 1792, the National Assembly decided to jail the royal family. Elections took place, and men of 21 years and above, regardless of money, received the right to vote. The Convention was the name given to the newly elected assembly. It declared France a republic and ended the monarchy. A republic is a system of government in which the citizens elect all the government, including the president.
