Detailed Solution

In South Africa, the African National Congress, an umbrella organisation, led the protests against segregation policies. The history of South Africa is such that the British traders settled there and became the rulers. These rulers considered themselves superior to the South African natives. As a result, the colonial rulers adopted the policy of segregation. This meant they racially discriminated against the native ‘blacks’ and ‘coloured’ people. An umbrella organisation called the African National Congress was formed, which led to the struggle against segregation policies. It included many different parties, such as the Communist party, workers’ unions, etc., who believed in the same principles of equality and justice.
