Detailed Solution

In spring the waves produced will be longitudinal.
Longitudinal waves are waves in which the particle motion is parallel to or identical to the direction of propagation. Spring begins to vibrate up and down when it is loaded. The generated waves rise, are reflected by the solid support above, and then descend. Now that you've seen it, the vibration and propagation directions are identical.  When the free end of a spring is moved along its length, every particle of the spring will vibrate in the direction of propagation, hence these waves will be longitudinal.
