Detailed Solution

Flower color in sweet pea is inflenced by two genes C and P. These are complementary. For colored flowers there must be at least one dominant C gene and one dominant P gene are must. If a cross is made between Cc pp and cc Pp plants, the offspring would be having the genotypes ccpp, Ccpp, ccPp and CcPp. The plants with the genotype CcPp could form colored flowers where as the others have colorless or white flowers. It is a pattern of deviation from mendelian pattern of inheritance.
