Detailed Solution

In the Bhopal gas tragedy, within three days days more than 8000 people were dead.
In three days, over 8000 people were killed in the Bhopal gas tragedy. The Bhopal gas tragedy was caused by an industrial accident. It took place in the Indian city of Bhopal, at a Union Carbide subsidiary pesticide facility. On December 1-2, 1984, the plant leaked 42 tonnes of hazardous methyl isocyanate gas, exposing people to poisonous chemicals and causing severe air pollution. The disaster occurred as a result of water entering a tank containing methyl isocyanate. This caused a chemical reaction that resulted in a large amount of carbon dioxide accumulation, among other things. This disaster affected approximately 500,000 people. People who were exposed are still suffering from the long-term health effects of the gas leak.
