In a survey, it was found that many workers in Ahmedabad city work on the streets. Street workers work on their own. They are not employed by anyone and therefore have to organise their work themselves. They set up their temporary shops from their savings. They make their shops from boards or paper spread over discarded boxes, sometimes with a canvas sheet hung on a few poles, carts, or plastic on the pavement.
