Detailed Solution

Lead acetate can be used in place of lead nitrate.
The chemical reaction is given below in this statement.
Aqueous potassium iodide and lead nitrate give yellow precipitates of lead iodide. Given reaction is a double displacement reaction because from potassium iodide I- radical and from lead nitrate Pb2+ radical both radicals combine and give a precipitate of lead iodide. If we use lead acetate in place of lead nitrate then, lead acetate dissociates in an aqueous state and gives pb2+ ions and CH3COO- ions. Here’s the reaction mentioned below,
If we use lead sulphate in place of lead nitrate no precipitate of lead iodide will be formed. Hence, if lead nitrate is not available, lead acetate can be used in place of lead nitrate.
And if we use lead perchlorate, it is highly soluble in water and can also be used to provide lead ions.
Pb(ClO4)2 (aq) + 2KI (aq) → PbI2 (s) + 2KClO4 (aq)
