Detailed Solution

In the eighteenth century, the Sikhs organized themselves into several bands called jathas and, later on, misls. They were known collectively as the Dal Khalsa. Sikh subjects of the Khalsa declared their independence and stretched their domains from the Indus to the Yamuna. During the Baisakhi and Diwali seasons, the entire body would convene in Amritsar to make decisions as a group. Guru Gobind Singh founded Khalsa to aid the Sikhs in battle. He had fostered in the Khalsa the belief that they would one day rule the world (Raj Karega Khalsa). Due to their tight-knit organization, they opposed the Mughal governors at first successfully, and later, Ahmad Shah Abdali. He had taken control of Sirhind and Punjab, two rich Mughal provinces.
