In the electrolysis of copper, the electrolyte used is copper sulphate solution.
During the electrolysis of copper, the copper sulphate solution is used. The impure copper metal is connected at the cathode, and a thin strip of pure metal of copper is connected in the cathode of the electrolytic cell. When an electric current is passed through the electrolytic cell, the impurities present in the copper metal on the anode separate into the copper sulphate solution and get deposited in the bottom of the solution. Finally, pure copper metal is obtained.
