Detailed Solution

Given  expansion  (1+x)11 ,

According to the problem the fifth term is 24 times the third term

T5=24T3 T4+1=24T2+1 11C4x4=2411C2x2 (Tr+1=nCrxnr(a)rbe the expansion of (x+a)n)

                                                                                   (nCr=n!(nr)!r!)

11×10×9×81×2×3×4x4=24(11×101×2x2)

 x2=4

 therefore  x=±2
