In the formation of apomictic seeds, the processes that have been eliminated are meiosis and syngamy. The embryos can be formed from diploid egg cells of embryo sac formed without meiosis or from the nucellus cells. Sexual embryos are absent in such seeds as there is no syngamy. Citrus and Mango seeds are polyembryonic but not apomictic as they have both sexual and asexual embryos.
