Detailed Solution

Given that, AC is the diameter of a circle with radius 5 cm.
 And AB=BC,CD=8 cm.
Question ImageDiameter = 2×Radius
AC = 2(5)
AC=10 cm
Area of the circle = πr2.
Area of the circle =π(5)2 =25π cm2.
We are aware that any angle that the diameter of a circle subtends is a right angle.
Hence, ABC is a right angled triangle with B=90°.
Pythagoras theorem states that the square of the hypotenuse side in a right-angled triangle equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
AC2=AB2+BC2[Pythagoras theorem] .
 100=2AB2  AB2=50  AB=50  AB=52 AB=BC=52 Area of the triangle = 12(Base)(Height).
Area of ABC =12×AB×BC .
Area of ABC = 12×52×52 Area of ABC =25 cm2 Similarly, ADC is a right angled triangle with D=90°.
AC2=AD2+DC2 .
102=AD2+82  100=AD2+64  AD2=36  AD=6
Area of ADC =12×AD×DC.
Area of ADC = 12×6×8 =24 cm2 Area of shaded region = Area of the circle - Area of ABC - Area of ADC.
Area of shaded region = 25π-49=29.5 cm2
Area of shaded region 30 cm2
So, option 3 is correct.
