Detailed Solution

The above statement is false.
There were four Varnas in the Hindu caste system: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras. People were divided along caste lines in most regions. Brahmans and Kshatriyas considered themselves to be from the "upper castes." Others, such as traders and moneylenders (also known as Vaishyas), were assigned after them. Peasants and artisans such as weavers and potters followed (referred to as Shudras). At the bottom were those who worked to keep cities and villages clean or did jobs that upper castes considered "polluting," meaning they could lose their caste status. Many of these lower castes were also considered "untouchable" by the upper castes. They were not permitted to enter temples, draw water from upper caste wells, or bathe in ponds where upper castes bathed. They were regarded as inferior.
