Detailed Solution

In the knee-jerk reflex, the efferent neuron exits the spinal cord via the ventral root of the spinal nerve and carries signals to the motor end plate

The ventral root of a spinal nerve carries efferent (motor) neurons, which transmit signals from the spinal cord to muscles and glands. In the knee-jerk reflex, the efferent neuron responsible for causing the muscle contraction exits the spinal cord through the ventral root.

The motor end plate is the region of the muscle fibre membrane at the neuromuscular junction where the motor neuron releases neurotransmitters to stimulate muscle contraction. The efferent neuron of the knee-jerk reflex carries signals to the motor end plate, initiating the contraction of the muscle (quadriceps) in response to the stretch.
