Detailed Solution

British historians divided India's history into three periods in the middle of the nineteenth century: "Hindu", "Muslim", and "British". This division was founded on the notion that the only significant historical change was the religion of the ruling class, and that no other important developments had occurred in the realms of the economy, society, or culture. Such a division also disregarded the subcontinent's rich diversity. However today, few historians use this division of periods. Most people look to economic and social factors to characterise the key components of various historical moments. The early societies covered in history included hunter-gatherers, early farmers, and residents of towns and villages, as well as early empires and kingdoms.
