H2S is oxidized when it is combined with a more electronegative element, such as chlorine. The addition of hydrogen to chlorine reduces it. When oxygen is added to aluminium, it oxidises. In the second reaction, oxygen has been removed from ferrous ferric oxide (Fe3O4), that’s why it has been reduced. Whereas, Sodium is oxidized and hydrogen is reduced in the final reaction.
