In the second phase of colonisation, there were many movements involving many tribes, and they were based upon many issues, i.e. Agrarian, political and religious.
The most intense period of colonialism also fell within the second colonisation phase. The movement's leaders, who were said to have heavenly inspirations and magical skills, did not use violence. Then, several tribe-based activities involved various agricultural, political, and religious concerns. The main parties in this conflict were the Bhils, Santhals, Mundas, Oraon, and Khond tribes. High rent, forced labour, and the appalling circumstances of the peasants were the main factors. This movement was often characterised by millenarianism. Significant uprisings in which the leaders asserted magical abilities were:
1)      The Karwar movement of the 1870s
2)      The Naida forest tribal uprising in Gujarat in 1868
3)      The Kacha Nagas insurrection in Cachar in 1882
