Detailed Solution

In the snow-covered areas of the Himalayas, the soils are Acidic with low humus content.
Forest soils are found in steep valleys and mountain slopes with enough rainfall for forests to grow. The texture of the soil changes depending on the alpine environment in which it is generated. The valley sides are loamy and silty, whereas the upper slopes are coarse-grained. These soils are acidic and have little humus content in the snow-covered parts of the Himalayas. Fertile soils can be found in the lower valleys, notably on river terraces and alluvial fans, where rivers deposit large quantities of sediments.
