In the year 1907, Congress split up. During the Surat session, the Indian National Congress witnessed the party split into two groups: the moderates and the extremist. The end goal was the same for both of them—an independent India—but the methods they used to get there were extremely different. Moderates have great regard for liberalism and moderate politics. Their working method was pleading, prayer and request. Extremists were aggressive, they believed in passive resistance and non-cooperating with the British. They follow an aggressive method.
