Detailed Solution

In water wheels, kinetic energy is transferred into work.
A waterwheel is a simple turbine, in other words, a device with buckets, paddles, or blades that are rotated by moving water and convert the kinetic energy of the flowing water into mechanical energy. Hydroelectric power plants use massive and more complex turbines to generate electricity. In a water wheel, the wheel is placed along the direction of the flow of water so that when water strikes the buckets of the water wheel, its kinetic energy rotates the wheel. So it can be said that the kinetic energy of the water is used to rotate the wheel.
