Bodhisattvas became very popular across the world, especially in places like China, Central Asia, and later in Korea and Japan. The Philosophy of the Bodhisattvas was most popular in China. After the development of Mahayana Buddhism, there were two main changes: the first change was the use of statues to show the presence of Buddha instead of sculptures and the second important change was the Belief in bodhisattvas. Bodhisattvas are persons who have attained enlightenment. After attaining enlightenment they could live in isolation. But after the development of Mahayana Buddhism, these people remained in the world (instead of going into isolation) to teach and help other people.
