In the Southwest direction of India Lakshadweep Islands are located. 39 islands make up the Lakshadweep archipelago, which is dispersed throughout the southwest corner of the Arabian Sea. Although the Laccadive Islands are simply a section of an archipelago of little more than 100 islands, Lakshadweep translates to "one lakh islands" in Malayalam. The most extensively used native tongue in the region is Malayalam, which is also its official language.
