The city of Inamgaon is located in the Pune district. In the western Indian state of Maharashtra, in the district of Pune, is a post-Harappan farming settlement and archaeological site. It is situated along the right bank of the Ghod River and is known as the "regional centre" of the Bhima Valley. About 3 kilometres from Inamgaon, an ancient site that has been investigated for its archaeological artefacts, is about 550 metres by 430 metres in size. The Chalcolithic settlement was excavated in order to better understand the preceding and later Jorwe cultures. The excavation was a major period in Indian archaeological history because of its size and well-organized methodology. The Malwa, Early, and Late Jorwe cultures were among the cultural stages unearthed by the excavations.
