Detailed Solution

(b) Erythrocytes

Lysosomes are absent in mature erythrocytes, which are also known as red blood cells (RBCs).

During their maturation process, erythrocytes expel most of their organelles—including the nucleus, mitochondria, and lysosomes. This process maximizes the internal space of the cell for hemoglobin, the protein responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body.

The other cell types listed—hepatocytes (liver cells) and muscle cells—are metabolically active and rely on lysosomes to break down waste products and recycle cellular components.
