Black soil is found in the Deccan plateau, made up of lava flow. It extends southeast along the Godavari and Krishna valleys and covers Gujarat, Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh plateaus. Regur soils are another name for black soil. It is clayey and is rich in soil nutrients, such as calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash and lime. It is also referred to as "black cotton soil" and is excellent for growing cotton.
