Detailed Solution

Human activities are permitted in some portions of a biosphere reserve, while they are prohibited in others.
Biosphere reserves are larger protected areas of natural habitat meant for conserving their own biodiversity at all the levels. It is an example of in-situ conservation strategy. The core zone, buffer zone, and transition zone are the three zones that make up the biosphere reserve.

The core zone is the natural protected zone inhabited by the valuable plants and animals of the reserve. Hence, no human activity is allowed in this area. The buffer zone is the area immediate to the core area. Here, only limited human activity, such as activities for the purposes of research and education, are allowed. The transition zone, sometimes known as the manipulating zone, is the biosphere reserve's outermost section. Multiple human activities are permitted in the transition zone as long as the surrounding ecology is not harmed. In the transition zone, human settlements are permitted.
