From 1958-1961, China had one of the most severe famines in the world caused by the unjust and improper actions of Mao Zedong, the Chinese communist dictator. The number of people that died due to starvation is estimated to be millions and is known as the "Three Years of Great Famine". The driving force behind it was lousy government planning and agricultural techniques.
