Detailed Solution

In the permanent settlement land revenue system, the zamindars became the permanent owners of the land.
The permanent settlement system is also called Jagirdari. Lord Cornwallis introduced this system of revenue collection in  1793. The system was mainly introduced in the areas of Bengal and Bihar. According to this settlement, land revenue was fixed, giving the company a regular income. It does not increase further in the future. This system was designed to consider the welfare of the company, not peasants or cultivators. Zamindar was given the right of land, which was hereditary and transferable. It will only be taken away if they fail to pay the tax. But the peasants were at the mercy of Zamindars.
