The Bretton Woods conference was first held in 1944. Bretton Woods was an agreement signed after the end of the second world war, and it was made so that the global economy could thrive and full employment could be achieved across the world in this new industrial era. Bretton Woods conference was first held on 1 July 1944, and it took place in New Hampshire in the USA. Two new major financial institutions were developed to stabilise the modern economy. One was the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and another was the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The latter one is popularly known as the World Bank. These were called twins of the Bretton Woods agreement.
