Detailed Solution

The Indian National Congress was split into the moderates and the radicals in 1907. The radicals had a different ideology from the moderates. The radicals believed that the British had no right in India so they wanted complete freedom.  They always believed in military methods (not in nonviolence). Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal were the leading leaders in the group.  They wanted the people to fight for complete Independence (Swaraj). At the same time, the moderates believed in liberalism and moderate politics. They thought that when British rulers were made aware of the plight of Indian citizens, then they would improve the lives of people.  They wanted self-rule under the nominal rule of the British. A. O Hume and Dadabai Naoroji were the leaders of the moderates.  The two groups reunited in December 1915.
