Motilal Nehru and other Congress leaders drafted a Constitution for India in 1928. The Indian National Congress' Karachi session adopted a resolution in 1931 that focused on the composition of an independent India's Constitution. Both this and the first draft were devoted to ensuring that the Constitution of independent India included the right to an adult franchise, freedom and equality, and the protection of minorities' rights. Thus, all leaders already agreed upon several fundamental principles long before the Constituent Assembly convened to discuss the Constitution.
