Detailed Solution

In 1850 the British enacted a new law to facilitate conversion to Christianity
The British believed that Indian society needed a lot of improvement. Thus, New laws and legislations were passed to outlaw evil and superstitious practices such as child marriage and Sati. Even the second marriage of widows was encouraged.
The Britishers took several actions to safeguard the interests of the people who converted to Christianity. They were as follows:
1)      In 1830, the Company let Christian missionaries operate freely throughout its territory and even acquire land and property.
2)      A new law was passed in 1850 to facilitate the conversion to Christianity and allow Indians who had done so to inherit the land of their ancestors.
