Detailed Solution

The case State vs Laxman Kumar and others was resolved by the Supreme Court of India in 1985. Sudha Goel, the wife of Laxman Kumar, died on December 2, 1980. The family of Sudha Goel accused her husband and in-laws of killing Sudha. So, they filed a case in the trial court, and the trial court gave a decision in favour of Sudha's family and convicted Laxman Kumar, Shakuntala, her mother-in-law, and brother-in-law Subhash Chandra and sentenced them to death. Unhappy with the decision, Laxman approached the High Court and appealed to the judge to reconsider the trial court's rulings. The High Court did the same and changed the punishment of the culprits. Then many women's groups appealed to the Supreme court to look into the case. After many hearings, the Supreme Court finally decided in 1985, finding Laxman and his mother guilty of killing Sudha and sentencing them to life imprisonment.
