Detailed Solution

In 1994, the new National flag of the Republic of South Africa unfurled.
At midnight on April 26, 1994, the national flag of the Republic of South Africa unfurled, marking its democracy. Before that, South Africa faced a prolonged struggle against Apartheid. Apartheid was a practice of racial segregation that claimed African blacks to be "inferior." The Whites agreed to the policy of "one person, one vote" and granted them fundamental rights. As the African National Congress (ANC) acted as an umbrella organisation in this struggle, it became one of the major parties and retained power in the subsequent elections of 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019. Finally, on April 27, 1994, the first multiracial election was held, which brought Mandela to power.
