Detailed Solution

Air transport was nationalised in 1953.
The Air Corporations Act nationalised all air travel and called for the formation of Air Corporations to promote the acquisition of existing airline businesses and make suitable arrangements for the operation of air transport services in the area. Parliament approved the Air Companies Act in March 1953. The Indian President gave his consent on May 28, 1953. On August 1, 1953, new companies opened for business. Under the Air Company Act, two corporations were established "Indian Airlines" and "Air India International."
