After Napoleon was defeated, the Congress of Vienna was held in 1813. It was attended by representatives from the United Kingdom, Russia, Prussia, and Austria. They met to plan the colonisation of Europe, which Napoleon's conflicts throughout Europe had hampered. Austria's Chancellor, Duke Metternich, hosted the Congress of Vienna. The Treaty of Vienna was drafted to affect changes throughout Europe. It redrew the borders of France, Prussia, Austria-Hungary, and other European countries. Its goal was to reinstate the monarchy that existed prior to the Napoleonic Wars. They were aimed at Europe's traditional order.
