Detailed Solution

In 1952, the first general election of India under the new Constitution was held.
The first Lok Sabha election in India took place in 1951-52. It was the first Lok Sabha election after India's independence in August 1947. It was conducted following the Indian Constitution, which took effect on November 26, 1949. When the first Lok Sabha election was held in 1951-52, 85 percent of the population was illiterate. Only 15% of the population of around 40 million people could read and write in one language. The voters' preferred voting choice could not have been elicited by printing the names of the candidates and parties contesting the election.
