Detailed Solution

Independent farmers were known as Grihapati.
In the northern part of India, independent farmers were known as grihapati. Most of them were small land owners. In the village, they would hire dasa karmakara, the men and women who did not own land and had to earn a living working on the fields owned by others. A large portion of village land was owned by the village headman known as gramabhojaka in the north and Vellalar in the south.
